Programme series of World Exhibition has already attracted more than 1 million visitors

More than 1 million people have already visited the ‘One with Nature’ World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition and the attached programmes, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén said at the event’s press conference held on Thursday in Budapest.

The Budapest World Exhibition held at the HUNGEXPO fair centre, the central venue of the programme series, will receive the 300,000th visitor on Thursday. This enormous interest, he said, indicates the public’s respect for hunting and nature, and also “a need for the order of nature”. The Deputy Prime Minister said it is an unprecedented success that on Saturday and Sunday HUNGEXPO received 55,000 visitors on each of the two days, almost reaching its maximum capacity, while on Wednesday, despite the pouring rain over 20,000 visitors came to see the exhibition.

The lie campaign of the left-wing media is also unprecedented as they included the refurbishment costs of the HUNGEXPO fair centre in the overall costs of the exhibition despite the fact that the refurbishment works serve not only this event, but equally the organisation of some 200 events annually from now on at the fair centre. The Mayor of Budapest should be grateful as the modern building complex is worthy of hosting any exhibition or event, and the prospective guests and visitors will boost Budapest’s tourism and catering industry, he observed.

He said it is also revealing that first “the left-liberal media” reported an alleged lack of interest in the event, while the next day they attacked the government for not having prepared well enough for receiving the masses of visitors. Mr Semjén said thank you to the visitors and the 5,000 volunteers helping at the event.

The government commissioner responsible for the implementation of the event took the view that up to Sunday evening more than 100,000 visitors could attend the World Exhibition lasting until Thursday. Zoltán Kovács said it is especially joyous that as many as 56,000 students have registered as, he said, engaging with this generation is an especially important.

It is to be expected, he added, that the National Agriculture and Food Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) starting on Thursday – which will await visitors in 2 pavilions in addition to the venue of the World Exhibition – will also boost visitor numbers.
