Prime Minister Viktor Orbán paid a visit to venue of world exhibition

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks in the Carmelite Monastery with Olivier Ginon, Chairman of the French GL Events Group which operates the events centre Hungexpo in Budapest. At the meeting, the parties talked about the restarting of the Hungarian economy, including plans to help the events sector back on its feet.

After the talks, in the company of his guest, Mr Orbán visited the site of Hungexpo where the comprehensive refurbishment of the state-owned events venue of strategic importance is under way also at present with grants worth HUF 55 billion from the Hungarian government.

The Prime Minister informed the Chairman of GL Events about Hungary’s economy restarting action plan, following which the parties discussed the professional proposals of the exhibitions and events industry and its opportunities to take part in the process, at the end of which Hungary could come of the coronavirus crisis stronger than it was before.

According to plans, this year Hungexpo will host two world events; in the autumn, the complex will host the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress, and the “One With Nature” World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition.
