The 8th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP8) to the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) will take place on 26-30 September 2022 in Budapest, Hungary.
Good nature conservation: an important player in African wildlife conservation will also strengthen the World Exhibition
His involvement as an expert is a guarantee that the work of wildlife conservation in Africa will be authentically represented during the event.
One should know that Wilfried Pabst is General Partner of W&A Pabst Holding KG, Hamburg, Germany. He is also Chairman/Director of the African Mineral Trading & Exploration (Pty) Ltd., Johannesburg, South Africa and the AMMS, African Metals Management Services Ltd, controlling shareholder of Africa’s only operating Lithium mine in Zimbabwe and South Africa. He is involved in developing commercial properties in California, USA and residential properties in Berlin, Germany. He operates one of the largest private wildlife nature reserves in Africa located in Zimbabwe, the Sango as part of the Save Valley Conservancy. In his early career he worked in various management positions in International Transportation and Trade in Germany, Iran and South Africa.
As a specialist in the field, he has strong opinions on game conservation and hunting in Africa, which is a subject that often divides public opinion:
– Sustainable hunting creates excess animals which are then used to repopulate war ravaged and poacher ravaged national parks. (…) I understand and live the wonderful contribution that hunting and income from hunting and the activity itself makes towards conservation globally and I am very involved in arguing the case in front of politicians and or NGO’s who do not believe we are doing the right thing in Africa. Well, we do! The World Exhibition is a unique opportunity, not only to showcase what we are doing, but also to help us convince those who don't believe in our work. We can convince them of how nature conservation can be properly funded and supported...
“As a forum created for nature conservation and hunting, the “One with Nature” Expo achieved internationally significant results, and accordingly the work we have begun is worth continuing from a professional perspective, but also from a social, foreign policy and national image perspective alike”, Mr. Kovács emphasised in Riga.
