The 8th Session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP8) to the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) will take place on 26-30 September 2022 in Budapest, Hungary.
From urban foxes to prohibited lead shot and bullets
Let's look at the details which are most exciting for the general public!
On the first day of this interactive and spectacular event, visitors can learn more about Namibia's conservation efforts, Germany's grey wolf population and the practice of close-to-nature hunting in Newfoundland.
On Thursday the focus will be on the relationship between wildlife and city dwellers: foxes in central urban areas, wild boars in our residential areas, deer in our gardens.
The third day of the Conference will focus on wildlife health. Hungary’s National Chief Veterinary Officer will speak about the fight against ASF (African swine fever), which is a major problem in our country. The final presentation will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting and visually engaging in the conference programme, as we will be able to watch a bird of prey undergoing a major medical intervention: endoscopic surgery.
On Saturday Balázs Németh is expected to make waves with a presentation on the ban on lead projectiles, which is causing controversy across Europe. Participants will also discuss highly topical and pressing issues: the situation of vehicle collisions with game; and objective, forward-looking drone-based assessment of game damage in agriculture.
On the fifth day visitors will be able to take part in a real field exercise as guests of Pilisi Parkerdő Forestry Company.
Entry is open every day at the entrance to HUNGEXPO Pavilion C on Albertirsai út, from 9:30 am – half an hour before the opening time for the rest of the World Exhibition. “As a forum created for nature conservation and hunting, the “One with Nature” Expo achieved internationally significant results, and accordingly the work we have begun is worth continuing from a professional perspective, but also from a social, foreign policy and national image perspective alike”, Mr. Kovács emphasised in Riga.
