Wildlife management in Hungary is exemplary

In Hungary, wildlife management, the management of national treasures is exemplary, Zoltán Kovács, the government commissioner responsible for the implementation of the ‘One with Nature’ World of Hunting and Nature Exhibition said at the event on Sunday in Budapest.

At the opening plenary session of the wildlife forum of the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management (CPW), the government commissioner said the legal framework that regulates hunting today was developed 5 years ago.

Mr Kovács encouraged participants of the conference to examine “the Hungarian way” because they may well find elements that they could also use in their own countries.

Regarding the motto of the World Exhibition, he observed that being one with nature means that the sustainable use of the natural environment must be ensured with all necessary and available means.

In her video message, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity Elizabeth Maruma Mrema said the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management is comprised of 14 international organisations. The partnership was established in 2013; its goal is to promote the sustainable management of terrestrial vertebrate wildlife through the preservation of biological diversity.
